El enterramiento de Javier Carvajal en el Panteón de los Españoles de Roma -del que fue su arquitecto junto a José María García de Paredes mediada la década de los cincuenta- presta pertinencia a una revisita a esta pequeña instalación, cuyos criterios de proyecto contribuyeron a asentar la refundación de la arquitectura moderna en España tras la década de posguerra, identificada con carácter general por un intento de recuperación historicista.
La ubicación geográficamente periférica de la Academia romana donde se produjo este ejercicio, y del contexto italiano en general, ayudó a la configuración de un proyecto con marcado carácter experimental lo que no haría sino acrecentar el interés de la revisita propuesta.
The burial of Javier Carvajal in the Pantheon of the Spaniards in Rome -of wich he was the architect himself along with José María García de Paredes by the mid-fifties- has relevance to revisit this small facility, whose project criteria contributed to consolidate the refounding of modern architecture in Spain after the post-war decade, indentified generally by an attempt to historicist recovery.
The geographically peripheral location of the Roman Academy where this exercise took place, and the generally Italian context, helped the configuration of a project with a distinct experimental style that would also increase the interest of the proposed revisit.
