Salvador Pérez Arroyo nace en Madrid en 1945. Estudia en la Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid, ETSAM, donde, en 1981, presenta su tesis doctoral sobre tratados de construcción en los siglos XVII al XIX. En 1982 accede a la cátedra de Construcción en la ETSAM. Colaborador habitual en diversos libros y revistas, enseña invitado en Londres, Cracovia, Berlín, Copenhague, Rotterdam, Cagliari y Venecia entre otras universidades. Es profesor honorario de la Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL, de la Universidad de Londres. Funda en 2008 el estudio CRAB en Londres con Peter Cook, con quien trabaja durante tres años. Obtiene en 2014 el premio Europa Nostra por su proyecto de restauración de la basílica de Palladio en Vicenza, en colaboración con otros arquitectos italianos. En el 2015 gana el Premio Nacional de Arquitectura de Vietnam por su edificio del Museo de la Historia y la Biología de la bahía de Ha Long. Su proyecto de teatro y centro múltiple situado en el lago Mayor de Italia obtiene el premio a uno de los mejores edificios construidos en el mundo en el año 2016, concedido por el Chicago Museum y el European centre of Architecture. Desde hace varios años desarrolla su actividad en Asia y Rusia. La memoria de todo lo anterior cobra pertinencia en este libro con los escritos que Salvador Pérez Arroyo ha ido escribiendo y publicando en estos últimos años como respuesta a su circunstancia, sus inquietudes, sus viajes y sus amigos. Podría decirse que esta publicación es una especie de memoria de sus intereses, escrito al dictado de la actualidad. Salvador Pérez Arroyo was born in Madrid in 1945. He studied at the Higher Technical School of Architecture of Madrid, ETSAM, where, in 1981, he presented his doctoral thesis on construction treaties in the 17th to 19th centuries. In 1982 he entered the Chair of Construction at ETSAM. Regular contributor to various books and magazines, he teaches guest in London, Krakow, Berlin, Copenhagen, Rotterdam, Cagliari and Venice among other universities. He is an honorary professor at the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL, University of London. In 2008 he founded the CRAB studio in London with Peter Cook, with whom he worked for three years. In 2014, he obtained the Europa Nostra Prize for his restoration project of the Palladio Basilica in Vicenza, in collaboration with other Italian architects. In 2015, he won the Vietnam National Architecture Prize for his building at the Museum of History and Biology of Ha Long Bay. His theater project and multiple center located on Lake Maggiore in Italy wins the award for one of the best buildings built in the world in 2016, awarded by the Chicago Museum and the European center of Architecture. For several years it has been developing its activity in Asia and Russia. The memory of all of the above becomes relevant in this book with the writings that Salvador Pérez Arroyo has been writing and publishing in recent years in response to his circumstances, his concerns, his travels and his friends.
